To start, you will need about at least 1/4oz of dried cannabis trim, larf, or flower. You can also use kief, hash or rosin with this same process, but the amount used will vary. You will need to calculate how much material was processed. Use the amount of extract that would have been yielded from processing a 1/4 oz of flower, and follow the same ratio below. Step 1: DecarbingYou will first start by decarbing the cannabis flower/trim etc. To decarb, preheat your oven to 245°. While it's warming, add the cannabis to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and spread it out evenly across the sheet. You will bake the cannabis for 45 minutes! Once baked, your cannabis is decarbed and is ready to be turned into oil. Step 2: Adding Water/Coconut OilYou will use equal parts water and coconut oil. Use 1 cup of oil, for every 1/4oz-1/2oz of cannabis (the higher the flower/oil ratio, the stronger the effect). Let the cannabis simmer in the water/oil for about 1 hour with the lid on. You will need to periodically mix the ingredients to make sure the cannabis doesn't sit on the bottom and burn. Step 3: Cooling DownOnce simmered, let the pot rest, and cool until it reaches a warm temperature. Step 4: StrainingStrain the cannabis out of the mixture using a chesscloth, or an extra fine strainer. Once strained, pour the mixture into a bowl. Step 5: FreezingAdd the bowl into the fridge or freezer. The oil/butter will separate from water and you will be left with a block of pure medical cannabis oil.
