Our Story

Life during the pandemic saw many people picking up new hobbies to pass the time, including indoor gardening. But indoor gardening presents many challenges, especially for first timers. The equipment is bulky and unattractive. Homes don't get enough direct sunlight through their windows. Picking and using the right soil is tricky and messy.
What if there could be a device that did most of the work while also looking sleek and modern?
This was the question we asked ourselves when we began Project Abby. Together with a group of top scientists and engineers, seasoned growers, industry experts, and dispensaries, we got to work on developing an all-in-one automated smart grow box. And we called her abby.

But that wasn't the end of our project. We also wanted to bring users together into a community to share their knowledge and experiences. And so we developed the HeyAbby app, where growers can connect with one another and receive live 1 to 1 expert advice. HeyAbby also monitors the plant's lifecycle while rewarding the user for reaching new milestones.
Especially during a pandemic, connecting with like-minded growers felt like being a part of a community again. Even now as we reach the end of quarentines and mask mandates, connecting with others makes the experience more entertaining. See what others love to grow while growing what you love.

It is important for growers to keep their male and female plants separated as soon as they can be identified. When a female plant is pollinated, it will spend all of its energy creating seeds and will stop growing the buds. Hence, male plants are often tossed once they have been identified to ensure that female plants continue to grow buds uninterrupted.

When planting cannabis in the Abby automated grow box, be sure to use the correct type of plant. If you want to grow buds, you will need a female plant. Rather than using a random seed and waiting the six weeks or so to determine the sex of the plant, you may want to consider using a female clone or even a feminized seed. A feminized seed is the product of a hermaphrodic plant.

HERMAPHRODITIC PLANTS

Under certain circumstances, female plants can develop both pollen sacs and pistils. This is usually a result of the plant becoming stressed. Cannabis plants can become stressed from:

1. Nutrient Deficiencies

2. Poor Weather

3. Damage to the Plant

4. Plant Diseases

You can easily avoid a stressed plant by using the Abby automated grow box, which monitors your cannabis plant thoughout it's entire lifecycle while also creating a sterile environment and adjusting the interior climate as needed.

GROWING YOUR CANNABIS WITH ABBY

Growing cannabis is easy with the Abby automated grow box. All you have to do is change the water and add pre-packaged nutrients once per week. Abby takes care of the rest in a sleek, modern design and even keeps you updated with your plant's progress using the Abby app. Learn more here.
